In this paper we will present several new practical attacks with periodic structure for DES, including new 1-round invariants. 1 The Principle of the Bi-linear Attack on Feistel Schemes In one round of a Feistel scheme, one half is unchanged, and one half is linearly combined with the output of the component connected to the other half. This will allow bi-linear I/O expressions on the round function to be combined together. First we will give an example with one product, and extend it to arbitrary bilinear expressions.
